Leaders are Readers Streatham recently ran a poetry competition, to commemorate National Poetry Day, which was on 4th October 2018. We invited young, budding writers to create a poem about this year’s exciting theme - CHANGE.
The Prize
Selected writers would have their work published on the Leaders are Readers website and social media pages and would also be in with a chance of winning one Kindle Paperwhite E-reader. One for each age category.
Requirements
Children of age 4 up to age 7 were required to write a poem about seasons changing; day and night; weather changes; animals changing (e.g., caterpillar to butterfly); making change (money); or anything on the subject of change. The poem didn’t have to rhyme but needed to be between 4 and 8 lines.
Older children of age 8 up to age 11 needed their poem ideas to include a life-changing moment; changing schools; environmental changes; changing the world; or absolutely anything about change. The poem could be a Haiku, song lyrics, rap, limerick or any poetic form.
The entries were forwarded to the assessment team at the Streatham branch where they were given the arduous task of picking the winner in both categories - gosh, that must have been quite tricky, as there were many brilliant entries.
But....there could only be one winner in each category and they were:
Amelia Bradley (age 7) and Logan Dean (age 8)
Congratulations to you both and hoping you have much fun with your new gadgets!
Look out for more fun stuff from Leaders are Readers.
