What is the right age to start your child off with tuition?

This is a tricky one and will vary from household to household. Some parents will feel the  earlier the better, while some might find it best to wait a while. It really is a matter of choice and when you feel your child is ready.

We would err more on the side of starting earlier with your child.

This does not have to be anything hardcore or formal, but light subtlties - reading together, colouring and drawing activities. There are always opportunities for learning and play to co-exist, which would be the perfect way to introduce different concepts to your child. Once you see your child taking a shine to this, you may want to try them out with something a bit more formal or scheduled.

The great thing about children is that they are very adaptable. Studies have shown  that in such situations, they do not possess the skills to deal with situations they have never faced before, unlike grown ups. This is why when parents bring their children into a new environment, they don’t only bring their child’s bag, they also bring their own baggage of worries and anxieties, which they could (unknowingly) project onto their children.

If you feel your child is ready to take the next step in their learning journey, they should be given the opportunity to explore that, especially when quite young. There are so many advantages to starting young. Children are naturally curious and starting to learn at a young age, just enables them to soak up a lot more information. Studies have shown that they get a bigger and better boost in their self confidence and they are able to tackle questions much faster,

At Leaders are Readers, we accept children onto our Reading Programme from 3 years. This enables them to build that foundation much earlier and enables them to go on to become much more confident learners way before they get into primary school. Now who wouldn’t want that for their child….?

This does not mean their childhood would be at stake here. On the contrary, it becomes a lot more fulfilling, as a balance would have been created where they can have the best of both worlds.

Our Reading Programme is designed to incorporate a mix of different activities, to keep the children engaged and motivated as well keep the lesson fun.
