What is the aim of the Five Plus Maths Fundamentals Programme?
Objectives include:
- Preparing Nursery and Reception pupils to sit the Five Plus exam
- Preparing Reception pupils to cope and even excel when in Year 1 at school
- Introducing maths to 3 to 5 year olds in a fun and enjoyable way
Topics include:
- Addition and subtraction to 20
- Number bonds to 20
- Reading and writing of number words up to 20
- Counting forwards and backwards in 1s, 2s and 3s
- Number doubles up to 10
- Addition language
- Subtraction language
- Shape, measures and data handling including 2D and 3D shapes and simple graphs
- Money: coin recognition and making up amounts
- Recognition of time and reading of o'clock and half-past
- Number sequence
- Picture sequence
- Mazes/non-verbal reasoning
