The Leaders are Readers programme has proved to be highly effective for 100% of the children who are aged 3½ and are developmentally ready for group tuition at the time they start the course.

Complete the checklist below to help you assess whether or not you should be enrolling your 3½ year old on our group Reading Programme. All that is required is that a child shows a readiness to learn in a group setting.

1.	Does your child regularly sit down to watch a video right through from beginning to the end? For example nursery rhymes videos, Disney films, educational videos.	Yes No
2.	Does your child ask you to read to him or her?	Yes No
3.	Do you or another adult read to your child 3 or more times in a week?	Yes No
4.	When you read to your child, does s/he often appear to be listening to the story even if s/he is also doing something else, for example, playing with a toy?	Yes No
5.	When you read to your child, does s/he often want to look in the book with you?	Yes No
6.	When you read to your child, does s/he often sit still and pay attention, following what you are saying?	Yes No
7.	Can your child recite, almost perfectly, 2 or more nursery rhymes or songs?	Yes No

8.	Does your child often choose to draw or scribble on paper?	Yes No
9.	Does your child remember the names of relatives and friends that he sees only occasionally, say, once a month?	Yes No
10.	Did your child settle down happily into his/her current nursery or playgroup after 1 or 2 weeks?	Yes No
11.	Does your child often do what s/he is asked?	Yes No
12.	Does your child know all of these colours: red, yellow, blue, orange, green, black, white, pink? When you read to your child, does s/he often want to look in the book with you?	Yes No
13.	Does your child speak clearly enough to be understood by strangers?	Yes No
14.	Although s/he may not know their names, can your child differentiate between shapes - circle/round, square, triangle?	Yes No
